Oklahoma City, OK – It is with great excitement that Oklahoma Victory Dolls (OKVD) and OKC Outlaws Roller Derby (Outlaws) announce the unification of their leagues.
The purpose of this merger is to move forward together to combine resources to further Flat Track Roller Derby in the Oklahoma City metro area. The Outlaws brand will not end, but continue strong under the umbrella of OKVD, alongside All Star Squad and Battle Squad teams.
“The Outlaws had an amazing home season, going undefeated in 2015,” said Emma C Hammer, Outlaw Training Committee Head. “We are so excited to join with OKVD and play top notch derby. We will remain a regionally competitive team – the same hard hits, big jams, neon green and ‘bang bang’ enthusiasm our fans love. OKVD is an incredible non-profit organization and we look forward to writing the next chapter in the Outlaw story as their partners.”
A key benefit of this expanded league is the opportunity for skaters to play at different levels; whether it’s for fitness, local competition or on the national stage, skaters will find what they are looking for with OKVD. The solid structure of support, including referees, non-skating officials and volunteers, will allow league membership to grow and succeed in the sport of Flat Track Roller Derby.
“Our merger with the OKC Outlaws is a historic moment in Oklahoma’s Flat Track Derby movement,” explained Menace, OKVD’s Athletic Committee Head. “Our competitive advantage will increase with a larger pool of skaters, resources, and of course, our amazing fans. Derby is an electrifying demonstration of women’s athletic abilities and it is OKVD’s goal to bring more of its action to the Sooner State. “
The future is full of potential for OKVD – we are thrilled for everyone to enjoy the journey with us!
